about me

My name is Lipika Chatur and I am an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin. I am majoring in Astronomy (B.S.) and Physics (B.S.) as well as minoring in Business.

Here are research projects I am currently working on:

  • ‘Probing Metallicity of z = 1-10 through [OIII]λ4364 Auroral Emission Line Analysis with CEERS’ with Oscar Chavez and Prof. Steven Finkelstein

  • “Temporal Evolution of the Radial Distribution of Milky Way Satellite Galaxies” with Dr. Ekta Patel

  • “Analyzing Metallicity within Tidal Tails of Open Clusters” with Dr. Catherine Manea and Dr. Keith Hawkins

  • “Laser Line Search with SDSS” with Dr. James Davenport [Breakthrough Listen Berkeley SETI REU]

I am interested in pursuing galactic archaeology, working with large data sets or astro-statistics, and studying the trends of metallicity within the universe.
